Blogging on Blogging
Alright, in this unit I found it quite understandable the second time. I didn't find this unit very hard, it was only tough when I would be faced with a proving question, and I don't know where to go about it, because there are endless possibilities in solving an equation. I think that being in the mini groups was pretty beneficial, because it did show me some ways some other people solved their proving identities. Good luck to everyone on the test. Ciao ~.
BOB
This unit was pretty straight forward but it's not easy. There are many different ways to solve the problems. I did some practice questions tonight. I was confused with the corollaries and I did the identities in the longer way which were more difficult. Hope I do good on the test.
Good luck to everyone on the test. :)

BOB - Identities
Well I miss a class but taking a peak on this site I notice everyone is doing a BOB so I guess ill do one too since the test is in 10 hours from now...
I like working with identities I don't have any problems with them... only problem is I don't take all the questions to seriously and I like to skip steps which cause me to make a lot of errors. so for the test I will avoid doing this..
The only problem I had that wasn't a concept error was one identity Sin(2x) or Cos(2x).
I got confused when Mr. K got the answer Sin(2x)=2Sin(x)Cos(x), but I quickly figured out that its the same as: Sin(x+x).
So I guess that all sooo yeah good luck on the test everyone.

BOB
Eyedentities. It's all good now, I understand it, but 5 hours ago, I was shaking like a leaf on a tree (All Shook Up - Elvis Presley). My moment of clarity would probably have to be while I was looking at the sum and difference identities, that was tough for me to understand before, and yes I just stared at it, and i was like, "Aw haw". My muddiest point would have to be during the proof of the sum, and difference identities... I still don't think i understand it, but all i need to know is: It works. I don't believe in luck.. so I hope you all studied, and don't get psyched up says the "How to do a Test," web site.

Trigonometric identities is easier than I thought what it is about. I find this easier to understand because its mostly about algebra and stuff. The parts I have hard time is memorizing all the "equation" things. I know mr. K. is doing a good job helping us to momorize all those things but i kinda sometimes get them mixed up and all. I have no idea why I get them mixed up but I usually do and I just remember it when the time is up in doing the work like probably 5 seconds before we hand it things I will remeber what to do. Anyways, I guess my weakness is memorizing things, I kind of tend to forget things easily now than before. Anyways, uhmm I guess thats what my weaknes point is memorizing but the rest as long as I remember what to do and the identities I guess I'm doing a pretty good job at the rest. Well, I guess that's all I have to say, since I need to look at those identities again to memorize it again. Good luck classmates. I hope the test won't be so hard. XD :p
BOB Time
Trig identities, a unit I somewhat liked and somewhat disliked. I like to prove identities more than solving for x because usually they are the same and i can see some identities. I noticed that i tend to do everything the long way like turning everything into sin and cos when its an identity of something that's short and sweet. In other words, my answers are not elegant. It's big and ugly and very messy, oh and confusing too. I like the whole cos alpha and beta thing. it's easy for me because all you do is plug in numbers into it.
I really don't like writing ever thing out, that's about all. i hope everyone did their homework and practiced this unit well. good luck everyone.

Hm... Trigonometric Identities ... It wasn't easy at first because of the corollaries. I used to get confused sometimes and a little lost during the first few practice questions but as usual, when we correct the work as a class, I get major clarification. Uhm... for this unit, it was really just practice practice practice so that you get used to looking at a problem in different ways. Sometimes my head would get really jumbled when the equation looks complicated but then the elegant solution comes up and i just smack my head for looking too deep into it. The exercises, for me, really helped because I got to practice and that really worked my brain so that I wouldn't look at a problem in just one way. *sigh* well... the test is tomorrow so good luck to everyone =)

Today in PreCal 40s we had two classes. In our morning class we went over more examples of exponential equations. We learned a new technique to solve certain questions. For example we were given:
4^2x-63*4^x-64=0
(( 4^x)^2)-(63*(4^x))-64=0 Let a=4^x
a^2-63a-64=0
(a+1)(a-64)=0
4^x+1=0 4^x=64
4^x=-1 x=3
no solution
Letting the difficult exponent equal another variable is the brilliant idea we learned and it is helpful in challenging questions like this.
In the PM class we learned how to graph exponential functions and the patterns that exist. As the exponent gets bigger positively the outputs on the graph get larger and as the exponent get bigger negatively the outputs gets closer and closer to the x-axis.
The next scribe is John.

This is my Blogging on Blogging for the Identities unit. This unit was a bit challenging for me at first because I missed our first class on the new unit and i missed all the of the corollaries but as the unit progressed I slowly started to understand what was going on and understand the relationships better. That was the only difficult part of the unit but also it took me a few classes to start looking at the questions in a different way in order to change them up and manipulate them to fit what I was trying to do.
BOB
Okay so this is my bob for the unit Trigonometric Identities. I think that for the most part, the concepts were pretty straight forward, in comparison to the previous units. Although it is sometimes confusing because there are so many different ways to solve the problems and so it makes it difficult to figure out which one will benefit you the most. I think that's one of the hardest things for me because I sometimes don't realize that there may be a more elegant solution and so I would substitute in an identity that would make the question even harder to prove and then I would just get thrown off completely. So I guess I would just have to practice more so that I can become more familiar with all the different identities. Well that's pretty much it. Good luck guys (:
B.O.B.
Another B.O.B. for another unit test. Well for me I can say that this unit was easier than the topic last unit which is the transformations. I understand on how to make two different things equal by manipulating the equations. I understand now that in one equation we can make different corollaries. Sometimes I make small mistakes in every questions which cause me lost of marks.
Well we just have to study hard and good luck to our unit test tomorrow! =)

BOB
Another BOB, and yet another Unit Test. This unit was quite interesting but sometimes it really confused me. But i would say that this unit was easier than our last unit. I sometimes made small errors and very confused if i have to change the proving thing into sine or cosine first...but Mr. K said that there's a brillant way of doing it, we don't necessarily have to do the sine/cosine thing. Anyways guys, we need to nail another test. Goodluck!!!!
Identities BOB
It's the end of the unit and time for Blogging on Blogging. In my opinion, this unit was the easiest so far. What I really liked was proving identities. Some were difficult to do at first but as I practiced them, it became easier to do. Identities is probably going to be one of my favorite units since it had dealt a lot with algebra. I didn't really have much difficulty with the things in this unit, but if I had to say, the questions that had to do with factoring would occasionally throw me off, since I sometimes wouldn't notice that I have to substitute. I hope that I'm ready for the test as well as everyone else.
BOB
In this unit, I found the double angle identities more difficult than just proving and solving for x. I get confuse of what identities to use. Sometimes I still made small mistakes with proving and solving for x or by doing the factoring that made me screwed up the whole thing. I just hope I'll do well in the exam tomorrow.
BOB'IN again
Ok its Anthony again. Heres my second bob. The unit of identities. This unit was pretty strait forward about manipulation. The most difficult part of this unit to grasp personally was the double angle. When i see a question asking me to prove and identity with a double angle, everything hits the fan. Another problem i have is with the tangent double angle. Tangent double angle feels like a huge mess of sine and cosine. Tonight i will try to overcome those problems and study hard.
Good luck to everyone, study hard, Now to I am going to study!!!

B.O.B. on Identities
I truly thought that this unit was by far the hardest so far. I didn't comprehend ANY concepts, especially anything involving how to prove something. My absolute muddiest point were the double angles and proving. The only thing I grasped with ease was the dance that Mr.K showed us. I'm studying my yahoo off for this test. Good to luck everybody! Not, because I need it most. Just kidding.
BOB
This unit just made me really sad, well at first it did anyways. Proving Identities i have down. Easy for the most part, execept for the "Finding the creative thinking" was it? Yeah i really don't like it. I so wish there was set of rules or something for this unit. You have no idea how happy that would make me.
Adition and Subtraction identies. Ahh...the crazy sin dance. I don't know if these qualifies for "moment of clarity" but here goes. At first I had no idea how to do these questions. BUT the only reason i didn't know how to was because i didn't know we had to do the triangle thing. I don't know how I missed that but once i seen that I knew how to do the problems, easy.
I know we learned something after that but i dont know what it was called. I dont think it matters as i know absolutely nothing about that one. I REALLY need to study hard for this upcoming test.

Identities BOB
In this unit I pretty much understood everything. The part where Mr. K was proving how the whole sine dance equations worked kind of threw me off at first. My muddiest point is proving that one side is identical to the other. I just don't know where to start sometimes. Do I change everything to sine and cosine? Do I use the Pythagorean identity to make substitutions? Do I factor? Do I multiply by 1? I guess I just have to practice a little more. Another thing is some of the questions that were on the pre-test (number 2 and 3) where you had to find the cos(a-b) and it gives you two angles, questions like that. That's... pretty much it.
BOB 2
Okay! So here's my blog for this unit, Identities. I'll say that my muddiest point is when you have to do the clever idea which is multiplying by the number 1. Everything else is pretty straight forward. I think thats it for now. Good luck to everyone on the test!
***When do we see our previous tests???***
BOB
This unit wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but there were times where I had trouble. There are so many Identities that I am not really familiar with yet and because of this, I sometimes have trouble proving one side from the other. Other than that, I'm fine with doing the algebra. I also tend to make little concept errors such as writing in the wrong function, or not changing signs when we're supposed to leads me to have a completely different answer. Hopefully, with a little bit more practice I'll be ready for the test.
